At the beginning of each appointment, we conduct a thorough consultation. During this consultation, we discuss the specific areas of concern and carefully review your medical history. This is necessary to ensure your safety and to achieve optimal results.

Our Microneedling procedure is complete with a thorough double medical cleanse, followed with disinfecting the skin. Once cleansed and disinfected, we then numb our patients with numbing. Once numbing is complete, we then discuss depths and needle sizes, which is most appropriate for the treated area. Here at The Derma Bar we use our Health Canada Approved device, ensuring our clients safety and effectiveness. Once treatment is complete, we soothe the skin with red or blue light therapy, and our finest hyaluronic acid sheet masks. 

After the procedure, your skin may be red and flushed for 48-72 hours like a mild sunburn. The first 72 hours you will experience some tightness and mild sensitivity. It is best to avoid any physical exercise that may cause you to sweat for 48 hours. This prevents bacteria from entering into the skin. Avoiding makeup for 24 hours is also recommended. It is also recommended to purchase a post microneedling kit to take home with you. Your nurse will also discuss with you about types of skincare products to avoid for a few days to a week. This will include any products containing alcohol or retinol. Dryness, redness and sensitivity may last 7-10 days.

Once the platelets have been separated from the rest of the blood, the nurse will carefully prepare them for your treatment. The PRP can be utilized as a topical serum for microneedling, administered through injections into the skin, or a combination of both methods. The entire procedure typically lasts around 1 hour.

You may experience swelling, redness, pain, itching, discoloration and tenderness at the injection site for a few hours. The use of Tylenol (acetaminophen) is permitted. If microneedling was also done, you may experience redness and flushing for 24 hours. Skin will feel warm and tight for 12-24 hours.  

For 24 hours after treatment, refrain from strenuous physical activity, hot tubs/sauna, facials, alcohol, aspirin, or other over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medications or supplements. 

A series of 3 treatments is recommended for
optimal results. Your nurse will discuss appropriate skincare regimes for post treatment care.

They will perform short, light strokes in upward motions to remove the dead skin cells and vellus hair (peach fuzz) from your face. The process is painless and should not cause any bleeding.

After the dermaplaning is complete, the esthetician will apply a soothing moisturizer or serum to hydrate and protect your skin. They may also provide recommendations for post-treatment skincare.
